Coaches Projansky, Keane, and Gattuso, along with Hockey Director Michael Kavanagh and the PREP Board, are excited to usher in a new era of PREP Hockey—one grounded in transparency, consistency, and open communication. Our goal is simple: to strengthen trust, create clarity, and ensure every family feels valued and informed.
Ages
Open to all students currently enrolled at Elk Grove, Prospect, and Rolling Meadows High Schools.
Tryout Fee
There will be a $300 tryout fee.
*Note this is a non-refundable fee, but will be applied to fees for fall season.

Tryouts will take place as follows:
Varsity Tryout #1:
Monday, August 17th - 9:10-10:20pm @ West Meadows Ice Arena
Varsity Tryout #2:
Tuesday, August 18th - 9:10-10:20pm @ West Meadows Ice Arena
JV Tryout #1:
Wednesday, August 19th - 6:50-8:00pm @ Nelson Sports Complex
JV Tryout #2:
Thursday, August 20th - 6:50-8:00pm @ Nelson Sports Complex
Frequently Asked Questions
Can anyone attend the Varsity tryouts?
Yes! PREP is holding truly open Varsity tryouts! Any player, from any grade, who wants the opportunity, is invited to attend Varsity Tryout #1, but it is NOT mandatory.
How will callbacks & remaining tryouts work?
After Varsity Tryout #1, a callback list will be posted to the site for Varsity Tryout #2. Players that did not get a callback and any that did not attend Varsity Tryout #1, should attend JV Tryout #1.
Following Varsity Tryout #2, the 2026-2027 Varsity Roster, will be posted. Any player that attended Varsity Tryout #2, but did not get selected for Varsity, will be placed on JV Black for the 2026-2027 season, and is still encouraged to attend JV Tryout #1.
After JV Tryout #1, a callback list will again be posted, to attend JV Tryout #2. After JV Tryout #2, both rosters for 2026-2027 JV Black and JV Gold, will be posted.
