The Big Chill Tournament - Ann Arbor, MI

All three PREP teams converged on Ann Arbor, MI to compete the in The Big Chill Tournament. The holiday weekend tournament started out with JV Gold and Varsity playing back-to-back games in historic Yost Ice Arena, home to the University of Michigan hockey team.

After suffering two disappointing losses, JV Gold battled the Renegades to a 2-2 tie. In their final game of the weekend, JV Gold defeated the Prowlers of Columbus, OH ending their tournament on a high note.

Varsity started hot with convincing wins over the Florida Jr Panthers and Loyola Academy Ramblers. Despite losing their third game to the Renegades, Varsity finished the seeding games in second place. In a hard fought and closely contested game, Varsity lost their semi-final game in overtime to the Prowlers.

JV Black got going on Saturday and rolled out three consecutive victories against Plainfield, Sandburg, and Cary-Grove (that's right, all Illinois teams in this division). The three wins put JV Black in the Championship game on Monday afternoon versus Plainfield. A third period goal along with an open net score in the final minutes sealed the 3-1 victory. Congratulations JV Black on being The Big Chill Tournament JV Champions.

Aside from the hockey, all the PREP players, parents, and family enjoyed time together. Team dinners, swimming, laughing, socializing, and staying up late kept everyone busy throughout the weekend.
