Hello PREP families, we hope this message finds you safe and well. Thank you for your patience while we assess the new youth sports guidelines announced by our Governor and their impact on the fall hockey season. Most important is the safety and wellbeing of our players, families, coaches, and community. We also appreciate the importance of sports in the development and spirit of our student athletes. We are fully committed to providing an exceptional fall hockey experience while adhering to current and emergent youth sports guidelines.

Equipped with the learnings from our fantastic summer schedule, we are moving forward with the new season. Player evaluations begin August 17th and registration details can be found here. Teams will be formed following evaluations. While current guidelines prohibit games and scrimmages, players will participate in regular non-contact team on-ice and dryland practices and skills development sessions. Players can expect 3-4 weekly sessions led by our coaching staff and specialty skills coaches; games and scrimmages will follow per youth sports guidelines.

While PREP supports reclassifying hockey as a lower-risk sport, we will provide our players with a challenging and exciting hockey environment that continues their development, keeps them safe, and aligns with youth sports guidelines. To support these efforts, we have developed a comprehensive COVID-19 safety policy that will be deployed through evaluations and into the fall schedule.

These are extraordinary times. We appreciate your continued support and are excited to see your players on the ice. We are committed to providing you with regular updates as the fall schedule, facilities, youth sports guidelines, and our COVID-19 safety policy require. Please reach out to any board member, our hockey director, and/or team coaches on any questions or concerns that you may have. We are here for you and your players.

All players must have a valid 2020-2021 USA Hockey Confirmation Number to register.

Any player turning 17 before December 31, 2020 must complete the SafeSport Core Training prior to evaluations.

New rules and restrictions in place for the 2020-21 season will be discussed at the informational meeting (see below).

Fees for the 2020-21 fall season remain unchanged from last year: $3,200 for skaters, $1,900 for goalies. Our fall fees are among the lowest in high school hockey. If ice rinks get shut down and we are unable to skate or if we are unable to participate in leagues/tournaments, we will reimburse families based on the costs PREP is able to recoup.
